    Me Against My Inbox

This morning I read a great post by Mary DeMuth.  Her topic was clearing out your email inbox. I love the idea, but unfortunately the Hotmail demons have me fixed as their main target. You see, last year I had my inbox in pristine condition, then those aforementioned email demons pulled every piece of electronic mail ever sent to me from whatever land deleted emails live in and put each one back into my inbox. Yep, there were thousands. You may or may not believe this, but I managed to clean up the mess (over many weeks). Here’s the thing, a couple months ago they all came back again. It’s like Dickens keeps sending the ghost of emails past to visit me.

So what am I suppose to learn here? Do I try again? Thanks for listening to my silly ramble. Suggestion appreciated.

Visit http://www.marydemuth.com/2011/06/become-an-email-jedi-in-7-steps/ to read what Mary DeMuth had to say. Sorry, WordPress wouldn’t let me link it to her name. Hm, maybe technology has it out for me.

    Happy New Year!

    ?

Happy 2011! I love new years. Actually, it’s the week before the new year that I really love. That seems to be the only time I can relax and plan. Each year I come up with new goal. Some are long term with no real guess as to when they will be accomplished. Being a Genesis finalist was one of those goals. I’m thrilled to have doubly met that mark in 2010. Other goals are just for that year. I’ll share a few with you and we’ll see how I did at the end of 2011.

    Professional goals:

    1.      Sign with an agent.

    2.      Submit two magazine articles.

    3.      Finish edits for Counting on Callie.

    4.      Complete the first drafts of two more manuscripts.

    5.      Attend the ACFW conference.

    6.      Attend the summer OCW conference.

    Personal goals:

    1.      Lose 40 pounds by my 40th birthday (November 8, 2011).

    2.      Clear out some of the clutter that has started to attack our home. Get rid of at least 40 items per month.

    3.      Retile the kitchen and bathroom floors and the bay window.

    4.      Paint the hall a color that I love.

    Family goals:

    1.      Spend at least five days somewhere else, just relaxing.

These are just a few of my goals. I’m so excited to have the opportunity to jump into another year of adventure. This year promises to be busy and fun with basketball for three of the kids, horse stuff for two of them, 4H for all four, soccer, volleyball, birthdays, vacations, youth group, friends and many things I can’t even imagine.

What’s on your list for 2011?

    Lots of lambs!

The first couple of weeks in February were busy here. Lambs, lambs, lambs. We even had one set of triplets. It’s a blessing and a curse (as Monk would say). One of the triplets had to be bottle fed. It was heart breaking to wean the little thing. Now, weeks later, she still run up to us hopeful.

We had lots of little helper show up at the farm. Our niece and nephew are in the picture below along with my daughters. Aren’t they cute!

Things are getting busy around here. Kids are finishing up their school work

and animal projects are getting going. Ryan had his second beef weigh in last Saturday. His Red steer is right on the mark but the black one is small. No worries. He always gets these steers fat enough by fair.

Have a great and sunny week.

    Crusin’ into 2009!

    Happy New Year!

So, have you set any goals for the year? Somehow it sounds better to me when I say goals rather than resolutions. I have a few. Some are writing related and a few are of more of a personal nature. I’ll share the writing related goals with you and next December you can come back and we’ll see how I did.

    1. Actively seek representation.

In 2009 I will define my list of potential agents and begin the process of querying said agents.

    2. Complete the rewrites for The Azalea Sisters.

    3. Complete a second full-length novel.

    4. Attend the ACFW conference in Denver.

That’s an easy one. I had a blast last year and can’t wait to get to Denver.

    5. Continue to learn, learn, learn the craft of writing.

    6. Enter two submission to the Genesis contest.

I have to mention that 2008 was an incredible year for me. It was the year I signed my first book contract and the year I signed the contract for my first short story sale. This has been a year of very high highs and a few very low lows but in the end I know I am truly blessed. I have an amazing family, a great husband and kids. My friends are the best that anyone could ever ask for and I am firm in my faith which carries me through the trials. So, bring on 2009. I can’t wait to see what’s coming next.
Leave me a comment and share a few of your goals for 2009.

    Have a blessed new year!

    Christina
